Fishing Tournament In Montauk This Weekend To Raise Money For Wounded Troops

This Columbus Day Weekend, Saturday - October 10th, the North Shore Anglers Club will be hosting their 3rd annual charity fund raising Fishing Tournament to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Last year the NSAC donated over $8,000.00 to this great organization that aids injured veterans and their families. All proceeds will be donated to the WWP.

Organized by Jim Higgins and Jerry Nigro, the North Shore Anglers Club will be hosting the "Bass & Blues Tournament for the Troops"event for 75-150 attendees. Fishing will commence at 6:00 a.m., with participants able to fish any body of water within 50 miles from Montauk. The fishing tournament will be followed by an awards dinner at the Montauk Yacht Club. The event will include a cocktail hour, silent auction, raffle, lobster dinner and awards presentation starting at 6:00 p.m.

What is unique about this tournament is the fact that so much is being done for the troops while at the same time next level fun can be had in Montauk. Many don't realize how many troops are injured overseas as they fight for the country. And many don't realize how important it is that they receive the best care that they can get. The Wounded Warrior Project has brought attention to this issue and is a project that was originally started on the East End. Soldiers, beginning in Montauk who were wounded in the Middle East theater, many of them armless and legless, have traveled by bicycle across the country and back to draw attention to the need of this charity. Wounded soldiers, who have gone through so much for America, count on the dollars needed to pay for the prosthetic limbs that allow them to walk again with dignity or to move their arms.

Fishing in the "Bass & Blues Tournament for the Troops" seems only natural for a community like Montauk to support. So much good comes from this kind of thing, and you can't beat a setting at the Montauk Yacht Club as a setting. If you are an angler and are interested in getting involved with the tournament or are interested in getting involved contact Jerry Nigro at 917-407-0248 or Jim Higgins at 631-521-1824.

Entry Fees: Adults, Ages 13 years and up are $100.00 Donation to WWP / Children 12 years and under, $20.00 Donation to WWP. The Donation covers entry fee, dinner, & non alcoholic drinks. First 75 people to sign up receive a free Event T Shirt.
