Montauk Site For Kids
Heather D'Agostino Launches a Website For Kids In Montauk
By Eugenia Bartell
A new and unique website has been created by Heather D'Agostino, whose very own little daughters inspired her to reach out to all Montauk parents. The site gives parenting information and provides access for social media on the many, diversified children's activities in Montauk.
"With no such website here," mused Heather, "what could I do to provide others with the opportunities to explore all the wonderful things to do and places to visit right here in our beautiful oceanside village?"
Realizing that one point of contact - "one stop shopping" for children's activities was needed, Heather put together www.kidmontauk.com and launched it on Memorial Day Weekend when it became live. "It has been a labor of love," admitted Heather.
A crowd of 200 parents and kids enjoyed the celebration of Heather's dream on July 3rd when Second House Tavern sponsored a party for the online parents guide to having fun with their kids in and around Montauk. Cup cake decorating, entertainment by Miss Melody, pony rides compliments of Rita's Stables, Karma - Kid's Yoga and plenty of dancing and games highlighted this festive gathering.
Clearly, the party was also a tribute to Heather, the selfless, earnest, energetic and fun-loving Mom who pursued her vision.
With a Masters Degree from NYU in Education Communication and Technology, her job in Corporate Education and Development at Chase Bank in Manhattan and the years of teaching at the Ross School, her knowledge, expertise and experience are invaluable and much admired.
John and Heather D'Agostino's wedding in November 2003 and reception at Gurney's Inn was a most beautiful day in their lives with more to come. Their two very special daughters, Gianna 3 1/2 years old and Nina 1 1/2 years keep life very lively at the D'Agostinos. Our thanks to these two very pretty little girls for inspiring their Mom.
Community sponsorship of Summer Stock, Sangha Yoga, Martha Greene RE, Second House Tavern, Path Finder Day Camp, Kahuna Ice Cream, Stefanie Sacks, Masterpiece Charters, Rick's Crabby Cowboy and Rita's Stables is terrific.
In response to the parent's interests and needs, the "Mom Posse of Bloggers" has been created. Clothing designer, Peri Allen, shops at different shop in Montauk each week and puts together a full clothing ensemble for parents and kids. Peri's sense of style and humor are contagious. Look for Peri's "Fashion in the Sand" every Wednesday.
Stefanie Sacks Dec, culinary nutritionist, publishes her "The Skinny on Eats" every Friday, writing reviews and comments from a Mom's perspective as well as a nutritionist's view on kid-friendly restaurants and eateries in Montauk.
Heather's weekly newsletter and calendar (allows you to plan a weekend, a week or an entire summer), together with her tweeting on Twitter and joining Facebook, gives parents a wider community with which to connect. Linking to other parenting websites in the metropolitan area is a way for families to learn that Montauk is definitely a family destination.
