IT'S SHARK-FISHING SEASON IN MONTAUK
The 23rd Annual Star Island Shark Tournament took place last weekend in spite of the mixed weather. The biggest shark caught was a 369 lb. Thresher. Congratulations to everyone who took part. And this coming weekend there is the annual Montauk Marine Basin Shark Tag Tournament. Head down for the Captains Meeting on Thursday, followed by fishing on Friday and Saturday.
APPARENTLY IT'S RACE SEASON TOO
The Pacifico 10-Mile Stand-Up Paddle Board Race is taking place this Saturday, June 27 from Ditch Plains to Gin Beach. All of the proceeds go to charity. And two weeks later, the 2nd Annual Open Ocean Swim Challenge is taking place at Kirk Beach. The proceeds from that are going to the Montauk Playhouse Community Center.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF '09
This Saturday at noon is the East Hampton High School Commencement Ceremony. Congrats to all the graduates, yet another year of kids from East Hampton Town going out into the big wide world. Oh boy.
FIREWORKS FOR THE FOURTH
Make sure you make it down to Umbrella Beach to celebrate Independence Day in style with Fireworks by Grucci. The show will kick off at 9 p.m. and last for an hour. The rain date is Sunday, July 5.
BOATS PAY TO KEEP FISHING
Apparently certain Commercial and Party boats throughout Long Island have paid the appropriate authorities to continue going on fluke-fishing trips during the two-and-a-half week gap in the season.
