Last Saturday The Montauk Yacht Club held a party for ALS that had author Jay McInerney feature his new book entitled, "How It Ended." The event kicked off at 6 p.m. and was about as lovely as such an event could get. Among some of the celebrities attending the event in Montauk were Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy as well as Andres and Lauren Santo Domingo, Anne Hearst, Amanda Hearst, Patrick McMullan and the owner of the Montauk Yacht Club and IGY, Andrew Farkas. There was also a performance by Adam Dugas (Citizens Band) and of course, absolutely fantastic food.

With everyone dressed up, mostly in white, the resort was alive with energy and charm and was a tribute to what Montauk has to offer. The first of a series known as the "Montauk Summer Book Drive" and the premiere of the Accompanied Literary Society's summer programming at the Montauk Yacht Club was what it is all about.

Press relations for the Montauk Yacht Club explained that although the Hamptons are known to be fabulous, glamorous and wealthy, the people who live there year round could really use our support. This is especially true for the Montauk Public Library and the public schools and the Yacht Club's summer programs are designed to help support important organizations like this.

Guests brought countless books to the event on Saturday. The Accompanied Literary Society (ALS) along with Montauk Yacht Club sorted and plan to store these books until they have a grand collection to present to the community library and residents when the summer is over.

The party was truly chic and wonderful and the Montauk Yacht Club has never looked better. Rich in history and tradition, The Montauk Yacht Club Resort and Marina, was founded in 1929 and is situated on 35-acres of scenic waterfront property in Montauk where it has been the preferred playground for a who's who of visitors since famed entrepreneur Carl Fisher built the original clubhouse. Since its multi-million dollar redesign and renovation, owner Island Global Yachting has opened the new resort and marina to family holiday makers, wedding parties, corporate meetings and events. Last Saturday's party was a taste of what the Yacht Club is capable of.

The newly renovated property, while modern and sexy, stays true to the Montauk landmark's legacy and old world charm with a luxuriously casual atmosphere. In addition to the 232-slip world-class Marina, there are 107 comfortably elegant guestrooms, 43 with water views; 23 well-appointed accommodations within the 5 Villa Cottages, fine dining and cocktails at the Gulf Coast Kitchen, Hurricane Alley, Barracuda Bar and Turtle Lounge. There is also a full-service "SPA MYC" and fitness center, a private beach and three swimming pools as well as Har-tru lighted tennis courts, easy access to fishing and water sports and 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting and event space plus the expansive Great Lawn that can accommodate large-scale tented events up to 1,000 people.

With big names coming to enjoy the club, there is no reason to miss out on it this summer. Next Saturday the Montauk Yacht Club is bringing in cookbook author and celebrity chef Katie Lee Joel to the from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. onto the great lawn and a bootlegger's happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Barracuda Bar. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults and children can enjoy activities including painting, balloon sculpting, potato sack races, croquet, Bocci ball, volleyball and more. This include a variety of food and drinks as well, all for just $30 per adult and $15 per child.

What you don't want to miss, however, is The 80th Anniversary party that is going to be just fantastic at the club called the "Roaring 20's Anniversary Bash" from 8 p.m. to midnight and will celebrate MYC's rebirth of their storied prohibition legacy as a top notch resort, underground speakeasy and gambling casino. In addition to live Jazz and dancing under a waterfront tent on The Great Lawn, exquisite food and drink specialties will be served throughout the night. Guests will also have a chance to try their luck at winning "Montauk Money" and prizes at MYC's 1920s style faux casino featuring gambling favorites: Blackjack, Poker, Roulette and Craps. Tickets to this are $50 per person (dinner only); $85 per person for dinner and an open bar.
