Fining The Lodge
It's not easy when you are one of the most popular clubs in the United States. The Surf Lodge here in Montauk is dealing once again with local fines. But this time it didn't have to do with overcrowding. Last weekend owner Rob McKinley threw a benefit for the Montauk Skate Park and built six Indian teepees out on the beach of the property. The East Hampton fire-marshal took down the teepees and fined the owners of the Surf Lodge $1,000.
Amazing Autism Event
Our cap is tipped to the eighty people or so that walked the full 83 miles from East Islip to Montauk Point to raise awareness and money for children that have autism. The name of the walk is the EJ Autism Foundation's Reel-Aid for Autism Walk. If you'd like to donate to this cause visit www.ejautismfoundation.org.
Clear Sky
Montaukers should expect to enjoy clear skies all weekend long. We knew this was going to be the case of course.
Celebrity?
We don't normally do this but Alexandra Richards was hanging out the other night at the Montauk Yacht Club. The celebrity is rarely in Montauk and also is one very bodacious babe.
Keep It Clean
The Montauk Chamber Of Commerce and local business owners want to remind everyone that Montauk is a beautiful place and that it can only stay beautiful if you do your part to not litter. Please place all of those beer bottles and plastic bags in the proper recycling receptacles.
Rental Market Picking Up
Local real estate agents in Montauk are reporting that the rental market this season has become much busier than anticipated. Some are speculating that renters have been holding out but now that summer is here, are making deals happen.
Be Advised
The admission fees to the Montauk Lighthouse are as follows. $8 for adults 13 and older, $7 for senior citizens 62 and older, $4 for children 41 inches in height to age 12, children under 41 inches in height are free but may not climb the tower nor be carried up the tower.
Not To Worry
Local lifeguards have declared that there is "absolutely nothing to worry about" when it comes to the Montauk Monster on the beach.
