The time of year has come again where parents cheer and kids
scream as the school season once again begins. The begining
of the school year is the perfect time for creating crafts, it gives
the mind a creative jump-start and helps students gain
enthusiasm for the upcoming year. This craft is fun, yet useful.
Locker caddies are the need of every locker-using student.
These unique caddies made from old jean pockets can be
personalized to fit anyone's style. "Food for Tauk's" Genevieve
Salamone and I got together for some delicious food and
creativity, the outcome...a very satisfied stomach and the
caddies pictured. Now we don't have lockers, but these little
magnetic organizers will work just as well on a filing cabinet or
refrigerator to hold all of your pens, pencils and notes.
Instructions
1. Cut out one of the back pockets of an old pair of jeans.
2. Using fabric glue, glue fringed decorative trim to the top edge of
the pocket. For an alternative look, try gluing rickrack around the
entire edge of the pocket.
3. Iron on a nice applique to complement your trim.
4. Decorate around your applique by ironing on phrases with funky
iron-on letters, or by gluing on rhinestones.
5. Flip over your pocket and glue on a magnet to each top
corner of the pocket.
6. For added style put a miniature clothespin on each end of the
pocket to make it look as though the clothespins are
suspending the caddy from your locker.
7. Display in locker and fill with trinkets.
