Supplies
1 lb of Crystallizing wax
9" diameter pillar candle mold
Snowflake oil
Bleached candle wax
Pencil
Fun-Tak
2 Blocks of candle dye
Candle scent oil
Knife
Double boiler
Ribbon
Instructions
1. Cut off a small chunk of one of your candle dyes.
2. Empty half of the crystallizing wax into a heated double boiler and heat
to 200*F.
3. When wax is at 200*F add the dye that you cut off the dye block.
4. Once the dye has dissolved, add in a few drops of your scent and 2
tablespoons of the snowflake oil.
5. As the wax is melting you need to get the mold ready. Flip your mold
upside down and feed the wick through the hole on the bottom. Pull wick
through the mold and tie it to a pencil. Now pull the wick from the
bottom making sure the pencil lies across the top of the mold and the wick
is taut. Cut the wick leaving a 2" tail. Take a small piece of Fun-Tak and
secure the wick tail to the mold and plug up the hole.
6. Once your mold is ready and your wax is melted and mixed, slowly pour
the wax into the mold. Carefully set your mold on a flat, level surface to
harden.
7. After a couple of hours repeat steps 1-4 and 6 using the other color dye,
pouring the new wax into the mold on top of the hardened wax and
leaving about a 1/2 cup of wax for later.
8. Let the new layer of wax harden for 30 minutes and then poke holes into
the shell that forms, letting the air out. Reheat the wax you set aside and
fill the holes.
9. Let the entire candle cool for a few more hours. Pull candle out of the
mold and trim wick to 1/4", tie a ribbon around the base of your candle
and display.
