24 hours in the hamptons
William Heath
Out late and tipsy?
Call Lilybug Scooters for a ride home.
5:30 AM The last Lilybug job is done for the night. My service gets people home safely in their own cars, without having to drive drunk. (We have 22 Lilybug bikes that fold into your trunk; a driver chauffeurs you home, and then rides his bike to the next pick-up. Call 866-678-LILY!) I am starving but have to lock the last scooters in storage in Southampton.
6:00 Before bed, I have a couple of pieces of toast with Marmite, one of my favorite comforts from home in England.
12:30 PM I wake up and have a quick dip in the pool, which is very refreshing. (Read: freezing!)
1:00 I check my BlackBerry in the garden while playing a quick game of Backgammon with one of my housemates.
1:15 Speak to my girlfriend, Courtney, who is at work at David Zwirner Gallery. We plan when I can pick her up from the Jitney that evening.
1:45 Off to Sant Ambroeus in Southampton to meet my father and his fiancee for lunch. The Caprese salad is delicious and a staple of my summer diet.
4:00 I fill the bikes with gas. (I smell yummy!) Carlo von Zeitschel of CVZ Contemporary calls to talk about the upcoming art show he is putting on at Kevin Heaphy Fitness Studio, where I'm a partner.
6:00 Take a much-needed shower and check our bookings for the evening. I call our regular clients to make sure they will have a driver if needed.
8:00 Off to the market to get things for dinner and pick up Courtney at the Jitney. Entertain a few friends at the house before I have to start coordinating my staff for the evening.
10:00 Meet ten of my Lilybug drivers at the storage unit. We do a safety check and go over the
game plan.
10:30 Arrive at Pink Elephant and check in with Josh Kaiser, the general manager. We work together to make sure all of his clients get to and from the club safely.
12:00 AM I do a Lilybug pick-up myself. I think it's important for the owner to be involved with all aspects of their business. I pick up a beautiful young lady who tells me she loves my English accent. I drop her off at home in Water Mill, safe and sound.
2:30 Back to Pink Elephant to see my friends Rollo and Leo, and catch up with David Sarner, one of the owners.
3:15 At Dune nightclub, I run into Rich Thomas, who used our service last week with his wife, Tamie, from Shelter Island.
4:30 A client sends our driver and his car back to Nello's restaurant in Southampton to pick up his pals who cannot find a cab. What a good friend!
5:00 Head back to the storage unit after another successful night. I crave Marmite toast again.
