The East Hampton resident and embattled CBS anchor has been using the recent conventions to play to her strongsuit, the agile television host being well-seasoned in spontaneous banter, navigating chaos and grabbing the big "get," even if it means trailing him around on the convention floor to do it. Rumors have circulated that this election cycle is Couric's last chance to prove herself to CBS bosses, and to her credit, she seems to be doing it. The New York Times and Wall Street Journal have both heaped on the praise for Couric's deft handling of the raucous gatherings of Democrats and Republicans. From all of the hustle she is bringing to the challenge, it would seem that McCain and Obama aren't the only ones currently running for office.
