Hampton Style - July 11, 2008

Everywhere I go this summer, the number-one topic is always real estate in one form or another. Sometimes when we're putting in long hours working on Hampton Style, I pine for a whole weekend devoted to puttering around my home. I'd love to redecorate, renovate-or maybe just buy some candles. I have to admit, going over our current issue made me fantasize about what would happen if I just called every advertiser and went wild!

I can't complain: instead of working on my home I'm attending wonderful charity events such as the fun-filled East End Hospice Golden Age of Hollywood Gala, and marveling at the fine efforts of the American Heart Association at "Heart of the Hamptons" benefit. We never tire of sponsoring and supporting these events, and I'm really gratified to see so many East Enders turning out to do the same thing. If we can't be at home stretched out on a Hildreth's chaise-lounge, we can be together at these fabulous galas talking about our homes. But if you do sneak a few moments on that chaise, you could always flick through this issue and conjure up the home of your dreams.

Speaking of a good read, this issue of Hampton Style brings you tennis legend and philanthropist Andre Agassi speaking about his new career and personal life after all those years on the world's pro-tennis circuit. (Now he has time to have a personal life. And guess how he chooses to spend it-raising money for education reform. Look out for his intimate and elegant benefit on August 16!)

Our annual round-up of decorators and architects is a beautifully photographed portfolio that also serves as one-stop shopping for the most talented men and women transforming our East End homes into palaces.

Social Survival Guide keeps you up-to-date on all the events and benefits that give us such glamorous opportunities to support local organizations.

Town Spotlight this issue is on the beauty and uniqueness of Shelter Island, and keeps you updated on where to go and what to do on this one-of-a-kind destination nestled between the North and South Forks.

So this weekend I'll grab a pint of ice-cream from Candy Kitchen and savor the serenity of being at home-until it's time to go to the Parrish Art Museum Gala or the ArtHampton Fine Art Fair. Then there's Bay Street Theater benefit. Relaxing at home or hitting the benefit circuit, do it with Style!
