The MBX adventure camp is
based in the heart of Wainscott at Main Beach Surf and Sport. The
camp caters to very active kids, ages eight to fourteen, who love
the ocean and want to learn how to surf, wakeboard, windsurf, kayak,
and kiteboard. MBX Adventure campers are highly motivated to engage
in all water sports and are already good swimmers before coming
to camp. To ensure that campers are qualified swimmers, a swimming
test will be conducted before they are allowed to participate in
any water sports. Cultivating confidence in and around the ocean
by becoming proficient in surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, and
kayaking allows kids to develop a true love for nature and the outdoors.
Learning these watersports in the beautiful setting of the Hamptons
pristine back bays and ocean beaches is a truly unforgettable experience.
The MBX camp is a one of a kind specialty water
sports camp with an emphasis on teaching. The caring staff is
comprised of professional surfers and wakeboarders from Hawaii
and prime surfing and wakeboarding locations across the globe.
MBX Adventure camp is proud to boast that two members of their
staff hold world-champion titles. All staff members are certified
Red Cross First Responders in both First Aid and CPR. Our main
goal at MBX is to insure safety during all activities in and out
of the water. When kids are in the water, MBX Adventure camp ensures
that a lifeguard is on duty at all times, and that each camper
receives personal, one on one attention. Out of the water, the
staff to camper ratio is only 1:2, ensuring safety and personal
attention at all times.
After six years of running a New York State-licensed
water sports camp, MBX has fine-tuned their water sports offerings
to maximize fun and learning on the water. All MBX campers have
access to state-of-the-art water sports equipment, including four
2007 Master Craft wakeboarding boats. All of the surfing, windsurfing
and wakeboarding equipment used to teach MBX campers features
new learning technology such as soft tops on surfboards and mini
rigs with scaled-down boards for windsurfing.
MBX has developed a reputation as the safest
and most professional water sports camp on the East End. Registration
before April 1 is required – spaces are limited and all
sessions usually sell out long before the summer season begins.
Nine weeklong camp sessions are held from July through September.
Kids should be dropped off at Main Beach Surf and Sport’s
Kids’ Specialty Surf Shop in Wainscott by 9:30 a.m. and
be picked up at shop at 3:30 p.m. A highly nutritious lunch is
provided.
