Amagansett author and editor James Brady recently passed away at the age of 80. Over the years he served in top positions at Star, Women's Wear Daily, Harper's Bazaar and New York. He created the New York Post's "Page Six" column, and also authored several books based on his experience in the Marines. His most recent book, Why Marines Fight, was released in 2007.

Actress and Hamptons regular Renee Zellweger was recently seen enjoying a cozy date with MSNBC legal correspondent Dan Abrams at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor.

The Sag Harbor home owned by Arlene Alda, wife of actor Alan Alda, has finally been sold. In a sign of the times, the three-bedroom Colonial was originally listed in the summer of 2007 for $799,000, and sold at the beginning of this year for $550,000. The home reportedly housed the Alda family's domestic staff for many years.

Amagansett's Sarah Jessica Parker will be joining co-stars and Hamptons fans Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in a Sex and the City sequel. The deal was just announced by writer/director Michael Patrick King, and release is planned for summer 2010.

The Hamptons will be featured in a new season of "The Real Housewives of New York City." The show will include last season's stars as well as newcomer Kelly Killoren Bensimon.

East Hampton resident Steven Spielberg officially joined forces with Mickey Mouse this week. After a distribution deal between Spielberg's DreamWorks Studios and Universal fell apart, Walt Disney Studios stepped in. Disney will reportedly market at least six DreamWorks live-action movies each year produced through DreamWorks' agreement with India's Reliance BIG Entertainment.

Actor Richard Kind, who has summered in the Hamptons and appeared in Rough Crossing and The Lady in Question at Bay Street Theatre, is now starring in Jeffrey Sweet's Flyovers at the 78th Street Theatre Lab in Manhattan. He can be seen in the production through February 15.

Samantha Brown, host of the Travel Channel's "Passport to Great Weekends," was a highlight of the New York Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javitts Center last weekend. Over 500 people listened to Brown's best and worst trips around the world, and her adventures in eating duck tongue and hugging a panda bear.
