December Events with Jan Silver
The pace quickens, the traffic thickens, holiday lights glisten as we count down the days to end the year. South Fork villages and cultural venues have some wonderful events scheduled for December, and most of them are free! Here is a list for your consideration...
December 14 - Actor David Houston recreates Charles Dickens and reads three Dickens stories (noon, Rogers Memorial Library, Southampton; free admission but reserve seats at 631-283-0774).
December 15 - Breakfast with Santa at Atlantis Marine World Aquarium, Riverhead (10 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.) includes aquarium tour (for children, adults & seniors, $20-30; reservations 631-208-9200 ext. 426).
December 15 - Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center has a film for children at 11 a.m. (free) followed by "Christmastime on Main St." from noon to 5 p.m. with carolers, rides and costumed characters.
December 15 - East Hampton Historical Society invites all to a holiday tea at the Osborn-Jackson House, 101 Main St., 4 to 6 p.m. (free but reservations required; call 631-324-6850).
December 16 - Shenole Latimer performs "Happy Holidays and all the Jazz" at John Jermain Library, Sag Harbor, 2 p.m. (free).
December 17 - Southampton's Rogers Memorial Library shows Amazing Grace (2007), the affectionate biography of William Wilberforce (3 p.m., free admission; call 631-283-0774).
December 21 - Sag Harbor's library shows The Santa Clause 3 with Tim Allen, Alan Arkin and Martin Short, 6:30 p.m. (free).
December 25 - Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noel!
December 30 - Southampton's Parrish Art Museum brings in Theatreworks USA's "Johnny the K" show, 2 p.m. He uses music and costumes to entertain his audience ($3 Museum members, $8 non-members, no charge for children under 3).
