East End Kid:
Graduation- A New Belt
By Emily Hart Post
With a little help from Katlean de Monchy and David Post
It was a special day for me and my mom and dad. I graduated from a white belt in Tae Kwon Do to a yellow belt. This was my first ceremony. The schools of Premier Martial Arts had the ceremony at Hunter College in New York, and I think about 300 kids were there to graduate to a new color belt. All the parents and friends were there. First each group did exercises to show how good we were. Disciplined and focused. Then after all the kids performed, each child got to kick or punch a board and break that board. I did that on my first try. I really enjoy Tae Kwon Do. I have learned to focus my attention and it is pretty cool. I am a long way from a black belt - but hey - I'm only six and a half.
