Election Endorsements Dan's Papers endorses Barack Obama for President.
This man, as the Governor of New Mexico said last May, is a candidate that comes along once in a generation. Well, he's here now and the administration of his opponent sure has set a problem out for him to solve. As for his opponent, John McCain, he has never been able to fully explain how he has not been part of that problem.
Dan's Papers endorses Congressman Tim Bishop, the sitting Democratic senator from our district, who is running for re-election. Tim Bishop has done an excellent job in our view, and though his opponent Lee Zeldin is a strong candidate, it is probably not a good time to consider turning over this position to somebody new.
Dan's Papers endorses Fred Thiele, Republican, for the State Assembly from our Second District. Thiele has held this job for nearly a generation and I cannot think of anything he has done during that time that has not been in the interest of this community. It is just a shame that the State Assembly as well as the State Senate continue to be dominated by the two majority leaders, leaving others with little to say. William Pitcher, the Democratic candidate and a former newpaper man, has only a long shot in hoping to unseat this popular incumbent.
