Here comes the rain! And the cold wind is right behind it. Thank goodness we got a good run of sun last week, but cold weather is in. This is going to be a long season with not much to do except keep warm and shop! Let's do it!

Main Street Sweets/Ben & Jerry's in Westhampton Beach has started its 16th Annual "Candy Super Sale." This customer favorite is a quantity candy sale offering "Mix & Match" five pounds of candy for $15, and two pounds of chocolate for $15. Lesser quantities are available at regular price. Get there early for the best selection, as they are not restocking these items. And don't miss the "Sundae Shake," a brand-new item from Ben & Jerry's scoop shop. If you're looking for something more traditional, Hampton Coffee Company, 194 Mill Road in Westhampton Beach and 869 Montauk Highway in Water Mill, next to The Green Thumb Farmstand, is once again featuring its warm-from-the-oven pumpkin muffins, Milk Pail hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks and hand-roasted pumpkin pie coffee, available by the cup at the cafés or as beans to bring home. Enjoy free samples of the pumpkin pie coffee weekdays until lunchtime. And on those chilly autumn days, nothing warms one up better than a bowl of hot, homemade soup. Hampton Coffee Company offers at least three heart-warming selections each day from late morning until closing. Many selections are low-fat and/or vegetarian. Here it is again! The Hildreth's Home Goods main event of the season is back! Hildreth's is accepting entries in its "Ugly Sofa" contest from now until November 3.
