EAST END KID: Wired's nextfest
BY EMILY HART POST
WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM KATLEAN DE MONCHY AND DAVID POST
Robots are cool. When they become available I want to get one. And the expert said that in 10-15 years, people will have robots that help them in their homes and in hospitals and at work. I went to the Nextfest with my dad and it was very crowded but I got a chance to see some of the exhibits they had there at the convention center. First we went to the robot conference and we sat right near the stage. I saw three people on the stage that Dad explained were not real. I was a little afraid at the beginning but then I was OK because they looked so real and they moved just like us. My favorite part - when I played hand-the-stone back and forth with a little robot. Then I played with a cute furry robot they are testing in hospitals and homes for the elderly. Then we went to the Discovery booth and saw a movie about visits to countries around the world that will be on TV when you read this. Science is fun. Hope you might consider going next year.
