OCTOBER IN THE GALLERY- At the Mattituck-Laurel Library artist Ellen De'Pazzi for the month of October is inviting the public to enjoy the artwork of Ellen de'Pazzi of Westhampton Beach on view in the Gallery of the Mattituck-Laurel Library (handicap accessible). HARVEST OF THE ARTS- Harvest of the Arts at First Universalist Church in Southold is having a full weekend of fun. Friday, 7-9 p.m. is the opening night with artists and a meet and greet. Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. is the art show and sale with a concert with Charlotte Day and Linda Wetherill. Sunday at 10:30 a.m. is a talk by stained-glass artist Ellen Mandelbaum; noon-5 p.m., art show and sale; 2-4 p.m., poetry and essay readings. Call 631-765-5864.
NATURE CONSERVACY BENEFIT- At 6:30 p.m. at Now and Zen Fiber Arts Gallery is having a Benefit for the Nature Conservacy. Come learn about the exciting work that the Nature Conservancy is doing to preserve wetlands and wildlife habitat in Pipes Cove, Greenport, as well as its efforts to improve water quality and increase shellfish populations in Peconic Bay. A SIDEWALK ASTRONOMER- At 8 p.m. enjoy 'An Evening with John Dobson' at the Custer Institute in Southold. John is the inventor, author and subject of film, 'A Sidewalk Astronomer,' and founder of amateur astronomy will discuss astronomy, cosmology and his work. Cost: $15. Registration required. LAURA WESTLAKE- Gallery M of Greenport presents Laura Westlake which includes original color pencil masterpieces entitled "Nature: BOLD and Bright. FALL FESTIVAL AT COOPERAGE INN- Running all weekend long every weekend outside on the lawn, running through October 22nd from noon until 6 p.m. enjoy some tasty favorites such as fire roasted corn, bratwurst and pulled pork sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs, festive beers, wines and liquors and fun food, treats and goodies for the little ones. There will be a variety of live bands, face painting, pony rides and a huge hay playground. Good time for the whole family. Located in Baiting Hollow off of Sound Avenue. OCTOBER 21 RENAISSANCE FAIR- At 10 a.m. enjoy a renaissance fair at the Hallockville Museum Farm on Sound Ave in Riverhead. to benefit East End Rowing to build a community boat house. This is a non-profit organization. Staff & coaches are volunteers. Head Coach & president is Michelle Zaloom, a two time Olympian. The boathouse will benefit adults and children in the community. OCTOBER 19 BENEFIT FOR IRIE- At 6 p.m. enjoy a dinner and concert to benefit IRIE Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program at Atlantis Marine World Aquarium in Riverhead. ORIENT BEACH STATE PARK EVENTS- Saturday, Oct. 14, from 9-11 a.m.-'Birding by Bike' along park's bicycle causeway trail. Round trip is 4.5 miles.
