East End Kid: Jake the Philharmonic Dog
BY EMILY HART POST
Karen LeFrak had a book party at Avery Fisher Hall for her new book for kids called Jake the Philharmonic Dog. She told me that it is about a dog that loves music and now I am reading it. The party had lots of kids and adults from New York and Southampton. My favorite part was when I saw this beautiful large dog with an older boy and he told me that his dog, Bomber, was a greyhound like the racing greyhounds. Bomber was a retired racer who Adam LeFrak (I think his name was Adam?) rescued and it became his dog. I played with Bomber for a long time and even fed him. He was so sweet. You can rescue a greyhound too - there are places in the Hamptons that do this. You can go to the Long Island Greyhound Transfer's website at www.ligreyhound.org to learn more about how to rescue a greyhound. I am working on my dad to get us a greyhound. I also liked the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches shaped liked dogs.
