Fall Festivals Are Magic On The North Fork,
Be Sure To Go

Summer may be over, but fall is pure fun on the North Fork. There is probably no other place on earth that takes fall so seriously. The North Fork offers a seemingly endless amount of festivals and celebrations revolved around this wonderful time of year.

What makes fall festivals on the North Fork so fun? Community spirit is the answer. Everybody on the North Fork takes community extremely seriously and they are very serious about all getting together and enjoying each others company. At a fall festival there is always plenty of hot chocolate and apple cider to go around.

Families with young children who love heading down to play outside come out in droves to hit the fall festivals, as well as families from all over Long Island who want to get their face painted and enjoy outdoor activities. Parents also like to pretend they are kids too!

One of the most interesting festivals is the Long Island Garlic Festival which takes place at The Garden of Eve Organic Farm in Riverhead. The festival is all about garlic and runs from September 27 to 28. Your kids can enjoy garlic popcorn, garlic ice cream (it's delicious) pony rides, a petting zoo, live music and endless smiles. There is also a great garlic cook-off where you can bring a garlic dish of your choice to enter.

Also in Riverhead is the Hallockville Museum Farm Fall Festival and Craft Show. This place can feel like the happiest place in the world during their festival. There will be plenty of tractor pulls, games and basket weaving that will win your kids over, all set at this well run family farm. This is taking place October 4 and 5 and is located in Riverhead.

The Aquebogue Parent Teacher Organization is hosting its seventeenth annual Fall Craft Fair September 27 on the grounds of Aquebogue School. If you are looking for a great raffle game, this is the place to be.

In Wading River at Wildwood State park you have a fall festival taking place on September 27 that includes a famous pie-eating contest. Go hungry and learn about how to help protect the environment.

Fall festivals on the North Fork really set the North Fork apart from other areas of Long Island because there is so much to do and so many people show up to them. Fall festivals on the North Fork have been known to draw thousands of people, all of them smiling ear to ear and developing a community bond that is very special. Check out the NF calandar on page 54 for more details.

Plenty of teenagers enjoy going to them to get together. Young couples also enjoy going to North Fork fall festivals and of course, there isn't really a better date to go on in the world then to take a date to a North Fork fall festival for a good time.

So stop being lazy and head on out with your friends and family to a North Fork fall festival. All of them benefit worthy causes and all of them offer a great, family oriented experience that cannot be beat. This is what the fall is about on the North Fork! Don't miss out on having more fun than you can possibly imagine in a potato sack race.
