Got Cleanse?

Whether it's to drop a few pounds, to maintain a holistic lifestyle or to recover from a bender of wining and dining, a juice cleanse has long been the method of choice for those able to visit spas and wellness centers. Now available in New York and select Connecticut locations, Blueprint Cleanse is a customized system of cleansing designed to fit the specific needs of the consumer on an individual level, right at their doorsteps.

The cleanse was developed by nutritional consultant Zoe Sakoutis, with the aim to make raw foods and cleansing systems easily adaptable to even the busiest of lifestyles. All levels of cleansers, from the completely uninformed to the seasoned regular, will find a program designed for what is best for their body. Blueprint presents a friendly, non-exclusive arena for individuals to become a master of their own cleanse.

Sakoutis, the Nutritional Architect of the project, is a lifelong student of nutrition and health who aimed to bring awareness and accessibility to a new audience, and move away from the stereotype that juice lovers are all about granola and tie dye. She is an accredited Nutritional Consultant from the Ann Wigmore Institute in Puerto Rico, where she studied to hone her skills at creating customized programs. "Most of us are constantly striving to find new ways to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle," says Sakoutis. "But the mentality is, 'I'm a busy New Yorker, I don't have time for the side effects that come with a whole detox plan.' But it doesn't have to be like that. This is not about extremes, this is about doing what you can, one step at a time. My 400 pound steak-loving uncle and my 90 pound yogi friend should NOT be doing the same cleanse!"

With this in mind, Sakoutis set out to design a system of cleanses that were tailored to different lifestyles, so that everyone can participate based on their own dietary needs and habits. Each cleanse is comprised of a combination of fruit, vegetable and green juices that offer the specific balance of vitamins, protein, nutrients and, of course, delicious flavor that make it work its magic and taste great on the way down. The Blueprint Cleanse is broken down into three levels - each level is suited to fit the lifestyle and eating habits of the cleanser:

Renovation - known as the "Gateway Cleanse" for those who believe in ketchup as a food group. Includes green juices, avocado soup and beet/carrot/apple blends.

Foundation - the cleanse for when the groundwork has been laid, for those who order flourless chocolate cake because it's flourless (yeah, right). Includes green juices, pineapple/mint blends and avocado.

Excavation - The mother of all cleanses. For the serious cleanser looking to get in touch with their body on a cellular level. This is the greenest cleanse available. Twenty-five pounds of greens in this baby!

The key to Sakoutis' mission is to make the cleanses convenient and affordable enough so they easily fit into the busy person's routine. The cleanse programs are available on a one, three or five-day-a-week basis, with the additional option of a 21-day "Habit Breaker" cleanse, all gently priced around $65 per day, with additional savings available based on the length of use. Six liquid meals a day are packaged in a custom-designed cooler bag for easy transportation and proper temperature control, and each juice is clearly numbered and sealed in a sturdy container with a re-sealable lid. Delivery is available in Manhattan, offering three days of juices at a time.

Beyond Manhattan, the cleanse is available for pick-up at Glow Yoga in Greenwich, CT, located at 1075 East Putnam Ave. (203-637-5065). Visit www.blueprintcleanse.com to place an order or call (646) 246-6558 to order by phone. Package discounts are available for small groups, families or even corporate cleanses, to get the whole crowd involved. "This isn't all or nothing," says Sakoutis. "This provides the different levels that people need to participate together. There's really something for everyone here."
