The Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge, 8/02-8/04
8/02/2007, Equuleus vs. White Birch
"This was a really tight game - White Birch won by a one-goal penalty."
8/02/2007, Endeavour vs. Black Watch
"The game was close until the third chukka, when we [Black Watch] made three or four goals and then held on to that lead for the rest of the game. The horses responded really well during this game and I think that they made a big difference in the way it played out."
8/04/2007, Two Trees vs. Northwood
"Two Trees had a really strong start. By halftime, they were up eight to two. Northwood managed to come back after halftime but Two Trees was still winning ten to eight in the final 30 seconds. Two Trees needed to win by three goals to make it to the finals, though, so Cambiaso scored a goal with less than twenty seconds to go, which earned his team a spot in the finals. If he had not scored that goal, Endeavor would have gone to the finals.
Of all the teams in this tournament, Black Watch was the only team with a guaranteed spot in the finals. It's always nice to see that you have a good record, but all that really matters is who makes it to the final - that is what makes this sport so exciting.
