Launch of Don.Fashions at Gurney's Inn

The hottest event in fashion this year will take place on July 27 at Gurney's Inn in Montauk. The official launch of Don.Fashions will introduce its lines of Don.Clothing, Don.Couture and Don.Denim during their first fashion show to be held at Gurney's private beach. The last time I spoke with PJ Monte, founder and designer of Don.Fashions, he was at the beginning stages of planning this must-see experience. He has been busy getting his designs ready for their big debut but has taken some time out to let us in on what we should expect.

The show will not only display his newest creations but also the original designs. The original Don.Clothing line includes the sweatshirts, t-shirts and hoodies in styles that include the Al Capone bust, Money Rules, Hamptons Men's Don, the Pink/Blue Women's Don and Color Money Women's Don. The high-end brands of Don.Denim and Don.Couture will be unveiled for the first time. Recently, I've been told that they have gone to the website, www.donfashions.com, and are unable to see the product. I decided to take a look for myself and saw that it said, "Coming July 27th." I laughed to myself and realized that I shouldn't be surprised. PJ is a savvy businessman and, of course, he's not going to display his products before the show.

Of course I had a natural curiosity of what these brands looked like. I planned to stay quiet but I couldn't resist the urge to ask PJ for a sneak peek. I promised I wouldn't divulge anything to anyone and, in turn, PJ presented some of the garments that you'll see the models wearing. I can't tell you too much but here is what I can disclose: The Don.Denim line consists of top quality jeans in various sizes. At the show, you will see a preview of the first two pairs of jeans, one for men and the other for women. The Don Couture line is made just for women and has an assortment of tanks, shirts and much more. Dresses and other attire are slated for a later date. The garments that you'll see during the show will be found in the fall line. You will be able to purchase what is already out and pre-order what you see on the runway.

This aspiring young designer is barely eighteen-years-old yet he has the foresight of many famous Italian designers that have come before him. PJ Monte has been devising plans for a clothing line since he was ten or eleven-years-old when he would apply iron-on decals to t-shirts. Although this idea lasted a short while, the concept of fashion has stayed with him and his graphic design talent has allowed his creativity to persevere to what it is today. The famous designer, Valentino was only seventeen-years-old when he moved to Paris to pursue his interest in fashion and Armani was the first designer to make history this year by streaming his Paris fashion show live online, featuring his haute couture line, Armani Prive. Just like these fashion icons, PJ seems to be on the right track toward becoming the next big name in the fashion world.

When ambition, vision and drive all come together, as it does with this young man, you can bet this fashion show will be full of fresh and innovative styles and everyone will have an incredible time.

If you want to make sure there's a seat for you, purchase your tickets today. Otherwise you won't be able to get in. You can purchase your tickets at the front desk of Gurney's Inn, Dan's Papers in Bridgehampton or Lu Berry in Watermill. Lu Berry Swim Wear is co-headlining this event with Don.Fashions and will have six bikini models showing you what's hot to wear on the beach this summer.

This is a red carpet event and will include a VIP section. There will be a runway that the models will strut down wearing the various designs while a live DJ keeps the beat going throughout the show. An after party will take place right after in the Discovery Room at Gurney's and will adorn the likes of a New York City night club. The show starts at 7 p.m., but get there early as they expect a packed event! For more information, call (631) 668-2345. See you there!
