631.899.4070
Danielle Gisiger, owner of Ateliers Danielle Gisiger Ltd., has worked in NYC since 1991, after she completed her studies at the Academy of Art and Design, Basel Switzerland. She has been a passionate designer of clothes and hats ever since. Her new store Pailletts, tucked in nicely by Java Nation, will propel the launch of "exclusive shapes - limited runs" which will offer a range of Gisiger's newest designs, as well as accessories, jewelry, and artworks by various artists. The shop is a mix between retail and gallery, offering original designs in exquisite materials. For now the shop offers mostly cotton pieces, but as the summer goes on, they will offer more "summer couture," a specialty from their studios that includes the "Crowned Whale Of Sag Harbor" t-shirt. Also in the mix are one-of-a-kind handmade hats, shawls, jewelry from new to vintage baccarat and various fine arts that will rotate as the season goes on.
Summer Girl
775 First Street, New Suffolk
631.734.5698
In the Hamlet of New Suffolk, you will find the original General Store, a 100-year-old building by the water next door to the popular restaurant Legends, called Summer Girl. Definite recommendations are their vintage cottage-style furniture, fun jewelry, clothing and accessories. Also on the shelves are Indian cotton tunics in beautiful prints, hand-woven scarves, and sweater wraps, all of which are flying out the door. There is also a nice selection of beach glass earrings and anklets, tote bags from Paris, leather belts from Morocco, a large selection of all natural soaps, Mexican church candles, and very unique cards and boxed notes. Summer Girl is an authentic North Fork destination, a fun and casual store where it's OK for your sandy bare feet to enter the store and you're always welcome to grab an ice cream, candy or soda. Store hours are Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m.
Country Pet Boutique
70 Love Lane, Mattituck
631.298.7800
Judy Klipp, lover of animals, always seemed to be hunting for pet food for her dogs. Finally, her son, Ray, suggested that she open her very own pet provisions shop. Jumping in barefooted, the Country Pet Boutique was born. Klipp thought that by making this store different, it could fit in with the country feeling of the North Fork. Her unique pet merchandise, sitting on and in country cupboards, painted tables and wicker baskets, creates a cute and homey aesthetic in her little shop. A relatively small store, carrying quality all natural dog/cat foods and treats, collars and leashes, from simple to bling, training collars, soft harnesses, coats and sweaters for winter, spring rain jackets, cute t-shirts, boots, hats and bandanas, the Pet Boutique is a welcomed addition to the area. The shop also carries furnishings such as beds, summer futons (for by the pool in summer), grooming supplies, shampoos, conditioners, spritz, paw healers, vitamins and supplements, wipes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, training pads, strollers, roller bags, ceramic food bowls, doggie backpacks, treat bags, first aid kits, seat covers, green cleaning products - too many items to mention here. Stop in with your pet, get a free treat, say hi to Judy and she will be happy to assist you with any of your special needs concerning your best friends.
