Whispers With Gina Glickman
Even though the 2009 Hamptons Summer Social Season has just started to heat up, there are already a few new venues that have proved to be worthy competition on the late night scene.
The Day & Night Restaurant and Beach Club, next to the Pink Elephant Nightclub, located at the Capri Hotel in Southampton has already played host to several VIPs including actress Anna Paquin, supermodel Fernanda Motta, and Bravo's NYC Housewives reality TV stars Jill Zarin and Ramona Singer. Co-Owners, Derek and Daniel Koch, are twin brothers (they have two other brothers and one sister) and are also the entrepreneurial innovators behind New York City's Merkato 55. The team is eager to bring the nightclub experience to the brunch-time partygoer. Daniel said, "The concept is very laid back. Roll out of bed come down for some Eggs Benedict. If not, come for some BBQ ribs or, even later come try our dinner menu." Why a beach club atmosphere? Derek replied, "People come out here to hang out at their homes. They come out here to come to the clubs, to a heated pool. We have sand, beach volleyball and cabanas." Co-Owner Mike Wainstein said, "We have traveled the world and seen many beach club concepts and wanted to bring the very best of Europe to Southampton."
We are only a few weeks into June and several VIPs have made the guest list at the Georgica Restaurant and Lounge in East Hampton including Kelis, Selita Ebanks, Molly Sims, Director Brett Ratner, Jeffrey Chodorow and Stavros Niarchos. Thanks to Executive Chefs, Robert Hesse and Seth Levine, former contestants on FOX Network's hit television show "Hell's Kitchen," Georgica is popular for several signature dishes including the Truffle Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Local Watermelon and Heirloom Tomato salad. Owner Matt Levine of the Eldridge and Levant East, plans to feature late night entertainment from top DJs including DJ Josh Madden, DJ Mel DeBarge, DJ Mess Kid, DJ Mia Moretti, DJ M.O.S and DJ Ruckus. This Friday, June 12, Georgica will host an invite only soirée in honor of New York Post Page Six Deputy Editor and first time author, Paula Froelich who wrote Mercury in Retrograde.
This Saturday, the legendary Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina celebrates its Grand re-opening and 80th Anniversary with a Roaring '20s style, Great Gatsby inspired bash. The all-day event, on MYC's Great Lawn, is open to the public and includes food, entertainment, family activities as well as a very special MYC Burger Bash hosted by celebrity chef Katie Lee Joel.
Until next week: Life is short, you only live once, so party on!
