Hampton Tradition XL - Fisher's

Fishers Home Furnishings in Sag Harbor started as a vision of husband-and-wife team Robert and Susan Fisher 26 years ago, and has since become a Hamptons tradition of tasteful home design.

Jennifer Jiras, a Pierson High School graduate and long-time Sag Harbor resident, has worked at Fishers for 25 years, providing customers with consistent, high-quality service and attention. With recent renovations complete, Jiras was all smiles as she explained how Fishers has gone green. Thanks to "green" carpets, a new outdoor facade, larger windows and energy-efficient track lighting, Fishers has undergone a fresh, eco-friendly facelift. Accompanying the store's new appearance are products made from organic fabrics and Forest Stewardship Council-certified recycled barn board, all of which keeps Fishers' new direction in line with the national green movement.

The changes are many, but traditionalists needn't worry. Robert Fisher still creates tables. He creates them to order, from whatever wood or material customers desire. He will make them any size, shape and height, and do so with the same skill that made him one of New York's premier antique table restorers years ago. Many Fishers customers are repeat customers who come back for more original, high-quality tables.

Fishers is also still famous for its wide selection of luxurious fabrics. Many are imported from England, and offer a beautiful variety of textures, patterns and colors. The Belgian linens are also a must. Jiras recommends Bella Notte linens and Lee Industry upholstery to all customers who regularly flock to the store to restock their summer homes or year-round residences. Customer Lynn Ronchetto of East Hampton and Manhattan is such a fan of this selection she actually takes Fishers' expertly crafted pillows with her wherever she goes, including to her South Beach and Aspen condos.

Fishers has maintained relationships with the same vendors for 25 years, a practice that serves as further testament to their commitment to high quality. Jiras explained that this commitment won't waver, even as Robert and Susan focus on the contemporary reality of "eco-conscious style that's still 'cottage,' but clean 'cottage,' with a renewed focus on recycled materials."
