Problem with EMS
In East Hampton, a young man who got into a fight that caused injuries to the other participant that required medical attention attempted to block emergency medical services from helping the injured man. The combatant was shouting obscenities at the EMS workers, who are volunteers, and then tried to block traffic. He has been arrested for disorderly conduct, obstructing emergency medical services and blocking traffic.
Fight With Giuliani
Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani got into a scuffle with John McCluskey in Bridgehampton. McCluskey was arrested after threatening to hit Giuliani while crossing the street. McCluskey denied the allegations, saying that he criticized Giuliani to his face and when he did, it was Giuliani who threatened to fight him, so he made a threat back in response. The matter is being investigated.
Cell Phone Theft
Somebody stole an Apple iPhone from a locker at the Ross School in East Hampton. The student made a report, and is also working on an iPhone application to prevent that from happening in the future.
Prostitution Break Up
Two men were arrested in Southampton after police cracked a big prostitution case. The man was operating a brothel out of his Southampton home, bringing prostitutes in from New York City.
Drinking and Pot
A man in East Hampton was caught driving onto the shoulder of the road by a traffic police officer. The officer found the man to be drunk and high on marijuana. The officer arrested the man, who sobered up quickly.
Tough Love
An ex-boyfriend was arrested by police after he stole his ex-girlfriend's cell phone and then made threatening telephone calls to her with it. Police are still trying to figure out how she was able to answer the calls when her cell phone was stolen.
$45 Billion
Forty-five billion dollars was issued in parking tickets within the Town of East Hampton as Memorial Day Beach goers and even residents didn't realize that they needed to get parking permits. The Town is considering using the money to pay off all of the dough that was swindled by Bernie Madoff.
Skate For Life
A 40-year-old woman in East Hampton reported to police that somebody stole her skateboard.
