East Hampton's Martha Stewart recently lost her 13-year-old chow chow named Paw Paw to renal failure. The pooch was laid to rest amidst the crocus and greening grass at Stewart's Bedford, NY home.

Due to high demand, Edward Albee's off-Broadway play Occupant, which will star East Hampton's Mercedes Ruehl, has been granted a one-week extension. The entire eight-week run (May 6-July 6) at the Peter Norton Space at 555 West 42nd Street sold out in just three days.

Despite rumors that East Hampton resident Katie Couric would be leaving "CBS Evening News," network president Les Moonves stands by his gal, saying at a recent staff meeting that Couric "is my anchor today, tomorrow and in the future."

Sorry, ladies, New York Giants Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning is officially off the market. He exchanged vows with longtime girlfriend Abby McGrew in Cabo San Lucas last weekend.

Hamptons regular Brooke Shields will present the Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Dance to Tommy Tune at the 2008 Fred & Adele Astaire Awards. The actress has been beloved by Broadway theatergoers since her theater world award-winning debut as Betty Rizzo in Grease in 1995.

Meat eaters rejoice. The Southampton Inn will welcome a new steakhouse in mid-May. OSO, under the direction of award-winning chef Peter Dunlop, is committed to "going local." OSO's owner Dede Gotthelf is employing area professionals and businesses to build and furnish the restaurant, and the work of local artists will be featured. Painter Kimberly Goff will continue her late mother Elaine Benson's tradition with rotating art exhibits.

Hamptonites John and Margo Catsimatidis have added to their list of charitable endeavors. The couple will serve as corporate co-chairs for Page Morton Black's Parkinson's Disease Foundation annual gala held at the Pierre on May 14.

Funny Games, a thriller starring Australian beauty Naomi Watts, is now in theaters. The film was shot in Southampton and on Shelter Island.

It has been reported by Newsweek that Michael Bloomberg is interested in purchasing the New York Times. According to the report, the Mayor would "take the publishing company private to help protect the brand in the wake of relentless shareholder assaults."

Georgica resident Steven Spielberg has teamed up with Electronic Arts to create a video game called Boom Blox, which involves stacking and knocking down blocks. The movie director came up with the idea while playing video games with his kids.
